Peng Wen, Ph.D.
Business Faculty
In addition to being an economics professor in the business program, Peng Wen is a textbook author, authority on monetary policy and pastor of a local Chinese church. Coming from an international banking background and in spite of lucrative offers to work in the world of international business and politics, he brings vast experience and knowledge to the courses he teaches at FPU and the lives of students in which he invests.
"I would describe my teaching style as very spontaneous. I prefer to tailor instruction not only to theory but to topics and business practices relevant to today's marketplace. While my classes are known to be rigorous, I don't expect every student to become an economist. I do expect students to be able to answer basic definitions and read economic articles with understanding. I provide tools for them to continue their lifetime of learning.
"I love to teach undergraduate students. They have so much potential for me to influence their lives in positive ways, so I think it is important to be available to them. I can be articulate in the classroom, but it takes more than that to develop relationships with students. I walk the extra mile and focus on my motto—my personal life goal: To know Him and make Him known. My career here, my ministry...this is an investment of a different kind."
